Hi! Thank you for taking the time to visit my website and learn more about my practice. I attended California State University Hayward (now known as California State East Bay). I earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology and a minor in Speech Communication. I continued my graduate studies at Cal State East Bay and earned a Master of Science in Counseling with a focus in Marriage, Family Child Counseling. I received my license as a Marriage Family Therapist in 2006.
I spent 20 years working for a nonprofit agency servicing the mental health needs of the most vulnerable children and families. In 2010, I decided to open my private practice in the Oakland area. Following my passion for working with vulnerable individuals, people of color, and the socially economically disadvantaged, I begin to serve Alameda County Medi-cal beneficiaries. Although my practice has grown tremendously since those days, I continue to maintain space in my practice for people in need of mental health services and receiving public-funded health care.
Today my practice is made up of a very diverse population of individuals. My main focus is assisting you with having a positive sense of self and improving your overall wellbeing! You will find me to be a very relatable and personable individual.
I believe if you can relate to a therapist, you can establish trust and begin your journey of healing and feeling better!
My Philosophy
My style of counseling is very relationship-centered. I feel it is very important to develop a strong therapeutic rapport between me and my clients. This will allow for trust to be built and the healing process is easier once those two are established.
My clinical orientation draws mostly from a Cognitive Behavioral approach, although I do also draw from Systems Theory and Relational Theory approaches.
Just as important as my clinical orientation is my core belief in working with clients. I consider myself to be a holistic clinician. I feel strongly that to understand the whole person we must explore and understand the Mind, Body, and Spirit.
